I've always had a chilled out attitude towards everything. Maybe it's because I was brought up in the serene city of Bangalore. I was brought up in a humble middle class family, where teaching has been the profession of choice since my grandfather. As a result, everyone expected me to be an outstanding student. It turned out that I was an 'out’-standing student. All my teachers would say I was smart, but somehow my report cards would never reflect that.
Yet, my parents had faith in me, and my chilled out attitude didn't let it bring me down. I would sing "Papa kehte hain bada naam karega Beta hamara aisa kaam karega". When I was in high school, my father lost his job at the factory he worked at, which was shut down by the government. My parents were under serious financial pressure. I remember how the festivals were celebrated in a much less grand manner, and weekend outings stopped as well. My mother who worked in a school, made sure this didn't affect my or my younger sibling’s studies, and she encouraged us to study further.
Her encouragement kept me going and eventually it all paid off. In 2014, I was ranked 16th in the state for the MBA exam I appeared for. My parents were so proud of me and the song I would always hum "Papa kehte hain" finally came true. Even my brother got into NIFT and was soon on his way to building a career in textile technology.
Staying focused on the set goals helped me achieve everything I wanted to. In 2016, I joined Amazon to start my career in e-commerceCom/SCM as this was my area of interest. It was a lot of fun initially, until the job stopped giving me any exposure. I soon got bored. I had been at Amazon for barely 6 months when I got an interview call from Grofers (later Blinkit). I appeared for the interview, but got rejected as I did not match the requirements of the role they were looking for.
Right company, wrong timing :(
In 2018, I got another call from Grofers, and this time I was lucky to get in. I started working under the guidance of Aditya Dubey and Aniruddh Deo. My inquisitive nature, the dynamic environment and the awesome folks here at Blinkit acted as the perfect catalyst to have a lot of fun, learn and grow. It's now been over 3 years and I really enjoy everything that comes my way.
From Grofers to Blinkit, HFS to GOBD, WiW to ES, NDD to 10 min express delivery, it has been a rollercoaster ride for me, with every day bringing up new challenges and something exciting to do for everyone and us as well. Helping teams run our product smoothly and solving their problems gives me the personal satisfaction of having done something that makes life easy for so many people at Blinkit. I feel proud about created a positive impact on the organization.
I am grateful for being part of Blinkit and thankful to all the people who have helped me become what I am today. I am also thankful that I took the right decision to join a leading company in express delivery!
I was born in Delhi to a disadvantaged family. Later, my father left us when I was 15. He was a stonemason and with his departure, I couldn’t concentrate on my studies. I ended up flunking my 12th exams.
I was born and brought up in Chandigarh. Blessed with a flawless childhood, I enjoyed a lovely family, the finest of education and a sound social life. In school, I excelled in studies as well as extracurricular activities.
Before I share my story, I want us to remember that India largely resides in its villages and towns. There are a lot of people in our country who have a lot of potential, but they seldom get the opportunity to prove their worth.
