Who we are
Most of us at grofers come from middle class families and have seen the life of our hustling parents to not just to put bread on the table but to go beyond and dream big. Dream through us.
We are also beneficiaries of the trickle down effect of a booming economy on our lifestyles. We are young enough to have seen the country's transformation and the pace of technology adoption, and wise enough to want to accelerate it for our future generations, all the while being mindful of our responsibility to the world.
Our culture is that of problem-solving for the India which we live in – for a better lifestyle for our families and the communities around us. Everyone of us at grofers is someone that grofers have the potential to touch and impact. We started with a simple question – what will be beneficial to our families’ happiness that grofers can do?
Love and courage
At grofers, we are each offered unconditional love and opportunity so long as we operate with a high level of ownership and accountability. If you don't get promoted, you don't find the 100 reasons why it was unfair, instead you take 100% ownership and ask your manager and peers – where can I improve? This attitude is what will make you a good fit and people will get behind you, work with you, on you – without you even knowing to get you to succeed.
That said, the culture at grofers will push and challenge you continuously. There is no space for judgment, cynicism and fear. You can only succeed here from a place of curiosity, compassion and courage.
Humility and grit
To thrive at grofers, you have to be committed to becoming the best version of yourself. We are a super hard working and self-critical bunch in pursuit to realize the highest potential of an individual, a team and the company. At grofers, when someone, anyone, even someone younger than you comes and gives you feedback, you become best friends and because you find gratitude in the fact that they are invested in you.
Better together
When I was hired at grofers, I was told if you are coming, come for the long run. If this does not work out, we will build something else. Together.
Together is another feeling that even in the hardest of times does not let me loose grip. I am not great at everything but I am excellent at a few. I feel the independence I get here because of really great dependencies is mind-blowing.
Forward momentum
Most are not in this for a job. We are committed to building something brilliant. And we know that to build anything great and meaningful it takes courage, perseverance and resilience. So we press hard. We don't give our competition an inch. We don't bow down to bad situations. We press hard. And when we keep at it in the right spirit, we win.
Summation
Take things from 0 to 1, if they fall, get to the frontline and get them back on track. And get them back up, stronger.
I think of my role at grofers as plug and play. I have never worked on a stream for more than 4 months. In essence we are all constantly working on making ourselves redundant in our current roles. And that’s where the magic happens.
