In a small bowl, mix 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast with 1/4 cup of warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Add the yeast mixture and 1/4 cup of warm water. Mix well to form a soft dough.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Punch down the dough and divide it into 10 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long breadstick shape and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

In a small bowl, mix 4 tablespoons of melted butter, 2 teaspoons of minced garlic, and 1 teaspoon of mixed Italian herbs. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the breadsticks.

Bake the breadsticks in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
