Wash and trim 250 grams of French beans, then cut them into 1-inch pieces.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add 1 finely chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.
Add 1 teaspoon of ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute.
Add 2 chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, and salt to taste. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add the chopped French beans and mix well. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add 1 cup of water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the beans are cooked and the gravy has thickened.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.
