In a mixing bowl, combine 500 grams of minced chicken or beef, 1 finely chopped onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala, and salt to taste. Mix well to form the patty mixture.
Divide the patty mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into round patties, about 1 cm thick.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have a golden-brown crust.
Slice 2 burger buns in half horizontally. Lightly toast the buns on the pan for 1-2 minutes, or until they are slightly crispy.
Assemble the burger by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a slice of tomato, a patty, a slice of cheese, another patty, and a dollop of mayonnaise or your preferred sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
Secure the burger with a toothpick or skewer, if necessary, and serve immediately with a side of fries or a salad.
