Kulkul (sweet Dough Curls)

Take 500 grams of maida (all-purpose flour) in a large bowl. Add a pinch of salt, 2 tablespoons of ghee (clarified butter), and mix well.

Gradually add 200 ml of coconut milk to the mixture and knead it into a soft dough. Cover the dough and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

After the dough has rested, divide it into small portions. Take each portion and roll it into a thin sheet.

Cut the sheet into small squares. Roll each square on a fork or a new comb to give it a curl shape. Repeat this process with the rest of the dough.

Heat oil in a kadai (wok) on medium flame. Deep fry the kulkuls until they turn golden brown. Drain them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

In a separate pan, prepare sugar syrup by boiling 250 grams of sugar with 100 ml of water until it reaches a one-string consistency.

Dip the fried kulkuls in the sugar syrup and ensure they are well coated. Allow them to dry on a tray.

Once dry, store the kulkuls in an airtight container.
