Peel 500 grams of raw bananas and boil them until they become soft. Once done, mash them and keep aside.
In a bowl, add the mashed bananas, 2 finely chopped green chillies, 1 teaspoon of red chilli powder, 1 teaspoon of garam masala, salt as per taste, and 2 tablespoons of cornflour. Mix well to form a dough.
Make small balls from the dough and deep fry them in hot oil until they turn golden brown. These are your banana koftas.
For the gravy, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 2 finely chopped onions, 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste, and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
Add 2 finely chopped tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of coriander powder, 1 teaspoon of red chilli powder, and salt as per taste. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
Blend this mixture into a smooth paste. Heat it again in the pan, add 1 cup of water and bring it to a boil.
Add the fried banana koftas to the gravy and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.
