In a large mixing bowl, combine 300 grams of whole wheat flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Gradually add 150 ml of water and knead the dough until it becomes soft and pliable. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each portion into a smooth ball.
Preheat a tandoor or an oven to 200°C.
Roll out each dough ball into a circular shape with a thickness of about 3-4 mm using a rolling pin.
Apply a thin layer of water on one side of the rolled-out dough and gently press it onto the hot surface of the tandoor or oven.
Cook the paratha for 2-3 minutes or until it puffs up and turns golden brown on one side. Flip the paratha and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the other side is also golden brown.
Remove the paratha from the tandoor or oven using a flat spatula and brush it with melted ghee or butter.
Serve hot with your choice of curry, yogurt, or pickle.
